Noida, Aug 12 (APAC Media): Shiprocket’s initial public offering (IPO) opened for subscription on Wednesday, with the issue drawing investor attention amid a grey market premium indicating expectations of a strong listing gain.
The IPO, which will remain open until August 14, has a price band of Rs 92-97 per equity share. At the upper end, the company is seeking to raise Rs 1,617.59 crore through a combination of fresh shares and an offer for sale.
Shiprocket’s shares were commanding a grey market premium of around 31 per cent over the upper issue price, according to market indications.
However, grey market premiums are unofficial and can fluctuate depending on market sentiment ahead of listing.
The company has already raised Rs 727.41 crore from anchor investors. It allotted 7.50 crore shares to anchor investors at Rs 97 apiece, with mutual funds accounting for a significant portion of the allocation.
The retail portion requires investors to bid for a minimum of 154 shares, translating into a minimum investment of Rs 14,938 at the upper price band. The basis of allotment is expected to be finalised on August 17, while the shares are scheduled to be listed on the NSE and BSE on August 19.
Shiprocket plans to use the proceeds from the fresh issue for several corporate purposes, including investments in technology infrastructure, marketing and brand-building initiatives, as well as repayment or prepayment of borrowings.
The company operates a technology-driven platform that provides e-commerce businesses with services including shipping, fulfilment, payments, checkout and cross-border commerce.
As of September 2025, Shiprocket had more than 145,000 active merchants, who collectively processed over 97 million transactions, according to the company.
Brokerages have maintained a largely positive view of the issue, citing Shiprocket’s expanding merchant base, asset-light business model and exposure to India’s growing e-commerce market.
Analysts, however, have also highlighted profitability and valuation as key factors investors should consider.
The strong grey market premium has added to the positive sentiment surrounding the IPO, but market participants caution that GMP is not an official indicator of the eventual listing price.
Investors are therefore expected to track subscription levels, institutional participation and broader market conditions before taking a final investment decision.
