Mumbai, October 5 (APAC Media): The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has launched ‘Be Cyber Street Smart,’ a nationwide cybersecurity awareness campaign for Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026. The month-long initiative was inaugurated at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) by Maharashtra IT Minister Ashish Shelar.
The initiative brings together government agencies, financial institutions, and technology companies to promote safer digital practices.
Focus on Everyday Cyber Safety
The campaign will run throughout October, focusing on practical cybersecurity habits across mobile applications, email, social media, and digital payments. It aims to help citizens identify common warning signs and adopt safer practices while using digital services.
Tackling AI-Enabled Cyber Threats
A key focus will be emerging fraud techniques, including malicious APK scams, AI-powered voice-cloning fraud, real-time deepfakes, and digital arrest scams. The initiative will also highlight other forms of AI-enabled cyber fraud that are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Government-Industry Collaboration
The campaign is supported by CERT-In, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), MeitY, and the Government of Maharashtra. Industry participants include 63SATS, Axis Bank, CRED, HDFC Bank, PayPal, Punjab National Bank, Thales, Veeam and ZS Associates, alongside BSE and BSECCL.
The initiative seeks to strengthen public awareness and encourage responsible digital behaviour as India’s digital ecosystem continues to expand.
