Noida, Oct 23 (APAC Media): Tonbo Imaging India debuted strongly on the stock exchanges, listing at a premium of around 66% over the initial public offering (IPO) price of ₹700 per share, reflecting robust investor demand for the defence technology company.
The shares listed at ₹1,160 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) had a premium of 65.71%, while the stock opened at ₹1,162 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), representing a gain of approximately 66%.
The strong listing came after the company’s ₹852.18-crore IPO received an overwhelming response from investors across categories.
According to exchange data, the public issue was subscribed to 135.9 times overall. The qualified institutional buyers’ portion was subscribed 293.56 times, while the non-institutional investors’ category received 170.94 subscriptions. The retail portion was subscribed 31.06 times.
The IPO was offered in a price band of ₹665-700 per share. The issue comprised an offer for sale (OFS), through which existing shareholders sold their stakes in the company.
Defence technology focus
Tonbo Imaging develops and manufactures advanced imaging and electronic systems for defence and security applications. Its product portfolio includes thermal imaging equipment, weapon sights, targeting systems, missile seekers and fire-control technologies.
The company operates in a specialised segment of the defence industry, where demand for advanced surveillance, targeting and imaging solutions could provide growth opportunities. However, its ability to convert demand into sustainable revenue and profits will remain an important factor for investors.
Should investors buy, sell or hold?
Despite the strong debut, market participants will closely track the company’s financial performance and valuation to assess whether the gains can be sustained.
Tonbo Imaging reported revenue from operations of ₹362.65 crore in FY26, down from ₹469.08 crore in FY25. Its profit after tax also declined to ₹50.88 crore from ₹72.76 crore over the same period.
The decline in revenue and profitability could weigh on investor sentiment if the company fails to demonstrate a recovery in its financial performance.
Investors who received shares through the IPO may evaluate their holding based on their investment horizon and risk appetite.
Meanwhile, those considering fresh positions may look at the company’s earnings outlook, order execution and valuation before making an investment decision.
The strong listing highlights investors’ interest in defence technology companies. However, the stock’s performance in the coming sessions will depend on broader market conditions, earnings visibility and the company’s ability to sustain business growth.
