Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, got its new Mayor on Monday following recent local body elections in the state.
The 21-year-old CPI(M) candidate from Mudavanmugal ward, Arya Rajendran, has assumed charge as the mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation, becoming India’s youngest mayor.
CPI leader and Pattom counsellor PK Raju will be the Deputy Mayor in the Corporation.
Interacting with a section of the media, India’s youngest Mayor, stated she never felt age as a restriction to deliver her duties.
Her party’s immense support and experienced council members would help deliver her duties as the mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.

She is just 21 and is a second year B.Sc Maths student. Her father, K Rajendran is an Electrician and Hardcore Marxists. She is particularly interested in the area of waste management. Her mother is a LIC agent.
