How can new-gen technologies impact school education in the future? This was the topic of debate among top educators from across India during the 2nd APAC Schooltech Innovation Conclave on March 12.
Mahmood Kadri, Chief Coordinator, Crimson Education strongly believes that in the future education is all about differentiation, blended learning, technology as an enabler and student voices. “I was well-determined to use the opportunity to apply my background in psychology in education by bringing-in neuroscience to make learning more ‘Brain Compatible’,” avers Anjum Babukhan, Director Education, Glendale Group of Schools.
“We have spent these pandemic years fully supported by technology. But, I can say confidently, no technology is capable of the creativity of a human being. It’s a powerful tool, and we must know how to use it,” opines Brian Cooklin, Managing Director, Nord Anglia Education, India.
NEP 2020 is progressive and comprehensive. But the actual impact of any policy depends on effective implementation. “I sincerely hope the progressive ideas and goals propounded by the new policy — critical and creative thinking, 100 percent foundational literacy and numeracy by 2025, blended learning, blurring of subject boundaries, experiential learning among others — are implemented in all schools countrywide,” believes Dr Amrita Vohra, Director Education – GEMS India & Executive Principal – GEMS International School, Gurgaon.
“I often look at tasks and ask, how can technology make this scalable, measurable, replicable. Next, who will be best suited to do that- and I don’t interfere with their work after that. I often sit with the team and we imagine what the future is like- a week later, two months later, three years or five years later, and where do we see the organization going,” clarifies Kanak Gupta, Director, Seth M.R. Jaipuria Schools.
“With Sophisticated technology, students better engage and collaborate better with the faculty and access learning content and work on project,” claimed Amit Pawar, Director Education Modern Workplace, Microsoft Asia. “Future of Education Could be an Amalgamation of Education 4.0, NEP 2020 & the Blended Learning Model,” opined Abhishek Bagchi, Director, World Peace Group of Schools who moderated the panel discussion.
