New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Secretary, S Krishnan, recently unveiled a comprehensive web portal catering to educational institutions across the country. The portal, named ERNET, not only inaugurates a new conference hall at ERNET India but also introduces domain registration services along with DNS and value-added services like Website as a Service (WaaS) and Learning Management as a Service (LMaaS).
Educational institutions can now utilise ERNET to select templates tailored for schools, colleges, and universities, customising their websites and Learning Management Systems (LMS) based on specific requirements. The streamlined process enables users to publish their websites and LMS with a single click.
The portal was developed leveraging open-source software and cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
ERNET India, a not-for-profit scientific society under MeitY, stands as the exclusive domain registrar for all educational and research institutes utilising ‘ac.in,’ ‘edu.in,’ and ‘res.in’ domain names.
In addition to domain registration, ERNET India provides various services, including web accessibility, campus Wi-Fi, smart classrooms, and connectivity through both terrestrial and satellite-based systems. The society is also actively involved in establishing data centres to enhance technological infrastructure for educational and research institutes nationwide.
