Chandigarh: In a ground-breaking move to boost the tourism sector in the state, the Punjab government unveiled the Punjab Water Tourism Policy 2023 recently. The launch underscores the commitment of the state to further growth in the tourism sector and provide employment opportunities to the people of Punjab.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.”We launched the Water Tourism Policy & Adventure Sports Tourism Policy, which will put Punjab on the global tourism map & create new opportunities for local communities. Let’s work together to make Punjab the ultimate tourist destination!,” said Anmol Gagan Maan, Punjab Minister for Tourism.
The policy invites ideas and proposals from the private sector to develop tourist sites along the water bodies. It provides a mechanism to grant rights to the usage of these water bodies for enhancing the tourism potential of these projects. The ideas and proposals will be placed before an empowered committee, headed by the Chief Minister, which will clear projects based on their potential for attracting tourism.
