GURGAON: The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) has decided to link its vehicles used for collecting waste from door step, transporting daily waste to the processing plants and sweeping machines with the GMDA command centre.
“The main objective of linking all the vehicles with the GMDA command centre is better monitoring and surveillance of our door-to-door waste collection vehicles, sweeping machines and vehicles carrying waste to the processing sites. All the vehicles deployed by MCM, including tractor trolleys, will also be GPS-enabled for better monitoring. We plan to complete the exercise by May-end,” said MCM commissioner and additional CEO GMDA Yashpal Yadav, during his visit to the processing plant in Manesar on Wednesday.
Manesar has six sweeping machines, however, sources said that there are complaints that not all are working. So the GPS tracking of the machines, through the command centre, would ensure that all machines are functional and a daily report will be generated. Sweeping done manually using tractor trolleys will also be tracked.
The commissioner visited the waste processing plant and Khoh and Kasan villages on Wednesday. MCM has given the contract of door-to-door fresh waste collection and processing to a private agency. “Our daily waste generation is around 300 tonnes and the infrastructure that we have for fresh waste processing has the capacity to process 400 tonnes per day. So we have infrastructure, however, we want to emphasise on using technology for better monitoring,” Yadav said.
According to the waste assessment done recently, Manesar generates around 350 tonnes of waste every day. The assessment was carried out to determine the per capita waste generation and type of garbage produced in Manesar.
