Indore: MP Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited (MPPKVVCL) has decided to erect 97 grids, thousands of transformers along with 33 and 11kv lines across Indore and Ujjain division with a cost of Rs 900 crore.
The project, being taken up under revamped distribution sector scheme (RDSS), is also meant for electricity loss reduction and modernization of the power department’s existing setup.
As per the plan, MPPKVVCL has started a GIS survey to know if any other department’s work is either proposed or underway at the spot it has marked to carry out different works related to electricity supply. “All the new works under RDSS will be based on GIS survey while following the guidelines of PM Gati Shakti Scheme. Therefore, we will carry out the sanctioned works only at the sites that are not proposed for other department’s projects. The same will help in avoiding conflict and speeding up works” MP Amit Tomar said.
“As part of electricity loss reduction component under RDSS, length of lines will be reduced by erecting substations and dividing big feeders into small feeders, increasing capacity of power transformers and by taking other steps” he said, adding that modernization of existing setup including substations, underground cabling, increasing capacity of distribution transformers and conductors and changing cable lines.
“Installing smart meters is also part of RDSS,” he said, adding that this work has been completed in Indore city and Mhow town and is presently underway in Dewas city, Ujjain city, Ratlam city and Khargone city.
