Kolkata, Apr 13 (APAC Media): Hyderabad’s STAR Hospitals has inaugurated its first Information Centre and Air Ambulance Services in Ballygunge, Kolkata, marking a significant step in extending specialised healthcare access to eastern India.Â
The initiative comes in response to the increasing number of patients traveling from Kolkata to Hyderabad for advanced treatments.
The newly launched centre is designed to bridge the geographical gap by offering local support, streamlined follow-up care, and direct connectivity to STAR Hospitals’ specialists. According to Dr. Rahul Medakkar, the move aligns with the organisation’s mission to improve patient outcomes by creating a local gateway to world-class medical expertise, thereby simplifying the journey from diagnosis to recovery.
Highlighting the hospital’s expertise, Dr. Reddy stated that the team’s experience of over 5,000 liver transplants with a 95 percent success rate reflects its commitment to delivering advanced procedures. These include multi-organ transplants, ABO-incompatible transplants, and complex robotic liver surgeries, now made more accessible to patients in Kolkata.
In oncology care, Dr. Goel emphasised the importance of precision and noted that the centre would enable access to advanced cancer treatments such as robotic surgeries and CAR-T cell therapy, along with comprehensive second opinions and treatment planning.
Dr. Chimakurthi underlined the need for timely diagnosis and continuity in liver disease management, stating that the centre will support patients from early evaluation to post-transplant follow-ups.
Additionally, Dr. Madduri highlighted advancements in urological and kidney transplant care, noting that patients will benefit from cutting-edge treatments, improved guidance, and seamless coordination through the new facility.
