Lucknow, October 11 (APAC Media): The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved the Uttar Pradesh Artificial Intelligence Mission (UP-AIM) to accelerate AI-driven innovation and strengthen digital infrastructure. The initiative aims to support at least 100 AI startups, train five lakh youth, and expand AI adoption across governance and key sectors.
It will also develop an integrated ecosystem for AI research, entrepreneurship, and skill development across the state.
100 AI Use Cases to Transform Governance
Under UP-AIM, the state aims to identify more than 100 AI use cases across agriculture, healthcare, education, urban development, policing, energy, and other priority sectors. Of these, 25–30 use cases will be targeted for scaling across government departments to improve service delivery and administrative efficiency.
To accelerate implementation, a Quick-Start Fund of up to Rs. 25 crore will support high-impact, pilot-ready projects. The funding is intended to help government departments translate promising AI applications into practical solutions.
UP AI Stack to Strengthen Digital Infrastructure
The mission envisages the development of the UP AI Stack, a shared infrastructure framework designed to facilitate secure data exchange, reusable AI services, and access to computing resources across government departments.
The initiative will also promote responsible AI adoption by incorporating privacy protection, cybersecurity, human oversight, and appropriate safeguards. These measures aim to ensure that AI applications remain secure, accountable, and focused on public value.
Five Lakh Youth to Receive AI Training
Workforce development is a key component of the mission, with a target of equipping at least five lakh youth with AI skills and enabling 50,000 professionals to apply AI in real-world settings.
The state also plans to establish District AI Kendras across all 75 districts and deploy Chief Minister’s AI Fellows to connect local challenges with technology, talent, and innovation.
Support for Startups and MSMEs
UP-AIM will promote applied research, support AI startups and innovation challenges, and encourage AI adoption among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and One District One Product (ODOP) units.
Support through mentorship, funding, pilot opportunities, and market access is expected to help businesses explore AI-driven solutions and expand their innovation capabilities.
Speaking about UP-AIM in his LinkedIn post, Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, IT & Electronics, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said, “The ambition is to build an Uttar Pradesh where AI strengthens public institutions, empowers citizens, enables entrepreneurs, and expands access to opportunities across the state.”
