Noida, Oct 27 (APAC Media): Gold and silver prices remained volatile on Tuesday as investors assessed the outlook for US interest rates, movements in crude oil prices and geopolitical developments, while domestic bullion rates varied across major Indian cities.
Spot gold fell 0.2% to $4,007.66 per troy ounce as of 8:10 am Singapore time, while spot silver declined 0.1% to $53.90 an ounce, according to market data.
Market participants were cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s monetary policy decision later this week. Expectations surrounding interest rates and movements in the US dollar are likely to influence the near-term direction of precious metals.
Gold is traditionally viewed as a safe-haven asset during periods of economic and geopolitical uncertainty.
However, higher interest rates tend to weigh on bullion because the metal does not offer interest income, making interest-bearing assets comparatively attractive to investors.

MCX gold and silver futures
On the domestic commodity market, gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) were quoted around Rs 143,150 per 10 grams in a morning market snapshot. The contract opened at Rs 1,42,301 and moved between Rs 1,42,086 and Rs 1,43,363 during the session.
Another market update indicated selling pressure in domestic bullion futures, with gold declining by around Rs 500 per 10 grams and silver falling by approximately Rs 2,400 per kilogram.
The contrasting price movements across market snapshots underline the importance of contract specifications and observation times when assessing intraday commodity prices.
Traders are expected to monitor global bullion trends, currency fluctuations and changes in investor positioning for further cues.
Crude oil in focus
Crude oil prices also remained an important factor for bullion markets. Brent crude was reported around $114.90 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) traded near $100.98 in a market update on Tuesday.
Higher oil prices can intensify inflation concerns and complicate central banks’ efforts to ease monetary policy, potentially limiting gains in gold.
Conversely, a sustained decline in energy prices could ease inflationary pressures and influence interest-rate expectations.
Investors will track the Federal Reserve’s policy announcement, movements in the dollar, crude oil prices and geopolitical developments for fresh direction in precious metals.
