Chennai, Apr 14 (APAC Media): In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Election Commission of India appointed senior IAS M Sai Kumar as the new Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu.
The decision comes after the ECI removed IAS N. Muruganandam from the post.
Sai Kumar is a 1990 batch officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre. Throughout his administrative career of more than three decades, he has held several senior roles in the Tamil Nadu government.
Sai Kumar currently serves as the Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Additional Chief Secretary for Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department.
He has previously served as the Chairman & Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited (TNPL) and Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC), Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Head of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), Managing Director of TASMAC, and Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in charge of South India for six years.
In his new role as the chief secretary, Sai Kumar is expected to introduce strategic and operational reforms in critical departments.
