New Delhi, Oct 1(APAC Media): OpenMetal has acquired cloud cost management company Economize as businesses face rising costs from cloud computing and AI infrastructure.
The acquisition combines Economize’s FinOps and cloud cost management software with OpenMetal’s private cloud, bare-metal and GPU infrastructure. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Cloud Cost Management
Economize helps engineering, finance and FinOps teams track and analyse cloud spending. Its platform gives businesses visibility into their cloud costs and helps identify areas where spending can be reduced.
The acquisition will allow OpenMetal customers to assess cloud costs alongside infrastructure decisions. Businesses can continue running workloads on public cloud or move selected workloads to private infrastructure based on their cost and performance requirements.
AI Infrastructure
AI workloads are increasing demand for GPUs and other high-performance infrastructure. This is also adding to technology budgets, making cloud cost management a bigger priority for businesses running AI applications.
OpenMetal provides private cloud, bare-metal servers and GPU infrastructure, while Economize focuses on cloud cost visibility and optimisation. The companies will now offer these capabilities through a single provider.
OpenMetal Labs
OpenMetal has also launched OpenMetal Labs following the acquisition. The unit will develop custom infrastructure and cost-management solutions for businesses with requirements that cannot be addressed through standard products.
The company said Labs will work across areas including private cloud, hybrid cloud, GPU infrastructure, storage and cloud cost monitoring. The combined offering is aimed at helping businesses decide where workloads should run while keeping infrastructure costs under control.
