New Delhi: Senior diplomat Santosh Jha, an IFS officer from the 1993 batch, has been posted as India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. Currently serving as the Indian Ambassador to Belgium, he will be taking over from Gopal Bagley, who has been appointed the High Commissioner of Belgium.
“Santosh Jha (IFS: 1993), presently Ambassador of India to Belgium, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Wednesday via a statement.
Prior to his appointment as India’s Ambassador to Belgium, Jha served as the Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan and the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Washington. His diplomatic career also includes postings in New York, Colombo, Moscow and Vladivostok.
Ambassador Santosh Jha assumed his current role as Ambassador of India to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union on July 17, 2020.
