New Delhi: MasterCard India appointed Rajnish Kumar, former chief of State Bank of India (SBI), as a chairman in a non-executive advisory role.
Kumar has held multiple leadership roles at SBI and its subsidiaries across India, Canada and the United Kingdom. He has served for nearly four decades with the largest lender of the nation and aided the development of SBI’s digital platform, YONO.
“I am keenly looking forward to sharing my knowledge, experience, and expertise with Mastercard as the company becomes an even more deeply embedded player and strategic partner to organisations across the public and private sectors in India,” said Kumar.
In his new role, Kumar will be guiding MasterCard’s South Asia Executive leadership team, supervised by Gautam Aggarwal, Division President for South Asia and Country Corporate Officer, India.
Kumar said, Mastercard’s available technologies, resources and capabilities and conviction have the ability to contribute greatly to India’s vibrant payments technology landscape. He is honoured to share Mastercard’s story and its initiative to collaborate with local partners who have a greater audience in India.
