Patna: The Bihar government inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 38 companies during the ‘Bihar Business Connect-2023′ global investors’ summit, securing a proposed investment of Rs 26,429 crore. The agreements included sectors such as textile, leather, food processing, and general manufacturing.
Noteworthy commitments include Rs 7,386.15 crore from IOCL, Patel Agri Industries Private Limited’s Rs 5,230 crores, Indo-European Research and Healthcare Private Limited’s Rs 2,000 crores, Dev India Project and Spray Engineering Devices Limited’s Rs 1,600 crores, UltraTech Cement Limited’s Rs 1,000 crores, and Spray Engineering Devices’ Rs 800 crore.
Bihar Industries Minister Samir Kumar Mahaseth expressed the need for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state, urging the central government to facilitate this and assured full support to industries establishing themselves in Bihar.
State Minister for Information and Public Relations, Sanjay Kumar Jha, asserted that the government’s investment promotion policies would solidify Bihar’s reputation for industries. Kamal Oswal of Nahar Group of Industries announced plans for a logistics park in Patna.
The Summit’s first day saw sessions dedicated to the textile and leather sectors, with MoUs signed for investments totaling Rs 554.4 crore. The food processing sector secured Rs 10,304.91 crore from 15 major firms, and the general manufacturing sector attracted investments of Rs 15,570.61 crore.
Representatives from 16 countries, including the US, Taiwan, Japan, and Germany, are participating in the Bihar Business Summit.
