New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has initiated a pilot project to introduce audio advertisements on selected trains. Commencing this month, this one-year trial will be implemented on six trains operating on the Violet Line, spanning from Kashmere Gate to Badarpur Border.
The concept was proposed by Pindrop Metro Tech Pvt Ltd, a specialised advertising solutions firm, with the aim to infuse a delightful and engaging dimension into the routine metro journey.
The audio ads will be strategically placed between mandatory service announcements, ensuring passengers continue to receive essential information about the next station, doors opening, and emergency exits.
DMRC officials believe that audio-based marketing represents a lucrative revenue mode with immense potential. Depending on the feedback received during the pilot phase, the initiative may be expanded to other metro lines, for further capitalisation.
DMRC has been proactively implementing measures beyond traditional ticketing to diversify revenue sources. The corporation also recently launched the ‘Momentum 2.0’ app to explore co-branding opportunities.
