New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has launched an investigation into the recent security breach at the Parliament, responding to a request from the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
The inquiry committee, chaired by Anish Dayal Singh, Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will identify the security lapse at the Parliament and propose necessary actions.
The committee will delve into the reasons behind the breach, pinpoint lapses, and provide recommendations for corrective measures. The MHA spokesperson emphasised, “The committee will promptly submit its report with suggestions for enhancing Parliament security.”
On December 13, 2023, two individuals jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, creating chaos by shouting slogans and releasing yellow smoke from canisters.
Simultaneously, outside the Parliament premises, two others, including a woman, raised slogans and released yellow smoke, prompting swift police action leading to their apprehension. The security breach occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack.
