New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) has inked an MoU with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for the establishment of Multi Skill Development Institutes (MSDIs).
According to the terms outlined in the MoU, each of CIL’s subsidiaries, including CCL, BCCL, MCL, NCL, and SECL, will witness the establishment of an MSDI in the initial phase. The remaining subsidiaries will be covered in the subsequent phase.
The existing infrastructure within CIL subsidiaries will be repurposed to serve as MSDIs. The project encompasses one-time capital expenditure for the adaptation of existing infrastructure and annual Recurring & Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) expenses.
This initiative emphasises CIL’s dedication to promoting skill development and facilitating sustainable employment opportunities for local youth in coal-rich areas. By providing market-oriented skill training to the youth in command areas, the project aims to facilitate their entry into formal sector employment or entrepreneurship.
The MoU signing ceremony, attended by Rupinder Brar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal, Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR) of Coal India Limited, and Manoj Kumar, CMD of EdCIL (India) Ltd., took place alongside Directors (Personnel) from CIL’s subsidiaries and dignitaries from the Ministry of Coal and other coal companies.
