Chandigarh: The Punjab government recently gave an additional charge to several IAS officers, and shuffled an IPS officer. Following are their names and new roles:
- IAS officer Gurkirat Kirpal Singh (2001 batch), currently serving as the Secretary in the Department of Home Affairs & Justice, has been given additional charge as the Administrative Secretary in the Department of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs.
- IAS officer Malwinder Singh Jaggi (2005 batch), the Secretary of the Department of Information & Public Relations, has assumed additional charge as the Administrative Secretary of the Planning Department and Tourism & Cultural Affairs and as the Director of Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA).
- IAS officer Veerendra Kumar Meena (1997 batch), currently serving as the Principal Secretary to Government in the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, has received an additional charge as the Administrative Secretary of the Jails Department, replacing IAS officer Kumar Rahul (2000 batch).
- IAS officer Mohammad Tayyab (1995 batch), the current Director in the Department of Treasury and Accounts, will assume an additional charge as the Secretary in the Department of Finance and as the Managing Director of the Punjab Infrastructure Department Board.
- IAS officer Varinder Kumar Sharma (2009 batch), currently serving as the Managing Director of Health System Corporation in Punjab, has been given additional charge as the Special Secretary and Head of Department in the Department of Water Supply & Sanitation. He is also replacing IAS Amit Talwar (2013 batch) as the Director of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training.
- IPS officer Haranbir Singh (2010 batch), the present Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Bhathinda, has been appointed the Commandant of the 7th Battalion, Punjab Armed Police (PAP) Jalandhar, Punjab Police.
