Kanpur: The Union Ministry of Education recently appointed new Directors to six Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) across the nation.
Manindra Agrawal has been appointed as the Director of IIT-Kanpur. He has been a professor at IIT-Kanpur since 1996, in the department of computer science and engineering. He was honoured with a Padma Shri in 2013. His teaching specialisation in algorithms, algebra, complexity theory, computational number theory and cryptography.
Sukumar Mishra, a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT-Delhi, has been appointed as the Director at IIT-Dhanbad. Before this appointment Mishra also held administrative roles as the Dean of Research and External Engagement at the IIT-Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus.
Avinash Agarwal has been posted as the new Director of IIT-Jodhpur. He previously served as a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT-Kanpur. Dr Devendra Jalihal is the newly appointed Director of IIT-Guwahati. He comes from a background of teaching and research in electrical engineering at IIT-Madras, where he served since 2006.
Dhirendra S Katti has been appointed the Director of IIT-Goa. He was previously a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at IIT-Kanpur. Katti’s academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of Mumbai and post-doctoral training from Drexel University, USA.
Amit Patra has been appointed as the director of IIT-BHU. Patra previously served as the Deputy Director at IIT Kharagpur. He has a long association with the Indian Institute of Technology system, having received his B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. degrees from IIT Kharagpur and joining its Department of Electrical Engineering faculty in 1987.
