Bengaluru: Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has successfully launched its “Made in India” servers, rolling them out earlier than planned to meet the growing demand from Indian consumers. They partnered with VVDN Technologies in July 2023 to make servers worth about $1 billion over the next five years.
VVDN teamed up with HPE to quickly build and start running a cutting-edge manufacturing plant in Manesar, Haryana. They’ve been focused on automation, control, and quality during the eight months it took to set up production and testing. These HPE servers, made in India, are built to provide significant value and can handle many different tasks. They will help Indian businesses and organisations improve their IT systems and stay competitive in the digital age.
Som Satsangi, HPE India’s SVP and Managing Director, thanked the Indian government and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) for their Production Linked Incentive (PLI) program. This program encouraged manufacturers to set up in India.
Making Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is a crucial and intricate part of making servers. It is a process where electronic components are put directly onto a circuit board’s surface instead of pushing them through holes, making the process faster and allowing for smaller and more efficient devices.
Doing this in India adds a lot of value to the servers, not only in putting them together and testing them but also in making the company a reliable supplier for government and public sector projects.
Puneet Agarwal, VVDN Technologies’ CEO, mentioned how this project supports India’s goal to become a global manufacturing hub and promotes local talent and self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
