Guwahati, September 1 (APAC Media): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted a series of major initiatives advanced by the state government, covering infrastructure, healthcare, employment, sports and international connectivity.
Calling it a week of “big moves and stronger possibilitiesâ€, Sarma said the initiatives reflect Assam’s broader development push and could create new opportunities for the people of the state.
A key focus is the government’s Rs 50,000 crore infrastructure vision, aimed at accelerating major capital-intensive projects and strengthening Assam’s physical and economic infrastructure.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the expansion of cancer care facilities, with the state seeking to improve access to specialised treatment and reduce the need for patients from the Northeast to travel outside the region.
Focus on Jobs and Sports
Employment generation remains another priority, with the government seeking to attract investment and expand economic activity to create opportunities for Assam’s growing workforce.
Sarma also pointed to the development of world-class sports facilities, reflecting the state’s focus on supporting athletes and nurturing sporting talent.
Boost to International Connectivity
The launch of a direct flight to Bangkok was another key development highlighted by the Chief Minister.
The improved air connectivity with Southeast Asia is expected to support tourism, trade, business and people-to-people exchanges while strengthening Guwahati’s position as a gateway to the Northeast.
Taken together, the initiatives represent a wider development agenda focused on infrastructure, healthcare, employment, sports and connectivity as Assam seeks to strengthen its position as an economic and connectivity hub in the Northeast.
