Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced the formation of a task force to prepare a report providing safety measures for doctors in the state. The state Health Minister, Dinesh Gundu Rao convened a meeting with medical organizations and health department officials for the same. He took suggestions to improve the safety measures for healthcare professionals, particularly the women working in the medical sector.
Some of the suggestions given by the medical representatives include:
- Raising public awareness about existing laws that protect medical professionals
- Installing CCTV cameras in the hospitals
- Providing wristbands with panic buttons
- Conducting regular safety inspections in the hospitals in coordination with the police
- Fast-tracking resolution of cases involving assault on doctors
The Health Minister said that the task force will consider all the suggestions given during the meeting. Consequently, it will come up with a report within a month outlining safeguards for doctors and other medical professionals.
