New Delhi: Vikram Dev Dutt, head of the aviation regulator DGCA, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Coal. His appointment comes as part of a major bureaucratic reshuffle announced by the government on Saturday. Dutt is a 1993 IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre.
In other changes, V Umashankar, a 1993 IAS officer from Haryana, has been named Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Tanmay Kumar, a Special Secretary, will become Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in December.
Subrata Gupta will step in as Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, replacing Anita Praveen. S Gopalakrishnan has been chosen as the new Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission.
Other appointments include Puneet Kumar Goel as Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes and Surendra Kumar Bagde as Director General of the National Centre for Good Governance. Neerja Sekhar has also been promoted to Special Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
These new appointments reflect a broader government effort to recruit experienced officials for key roles in various ministries.
