Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suspended senior IAS Abhishek Prakash over alleged irregularities in land acquisition for the Defense Corridor in Lucknow.
Abhishek, a 2006 batch IAS officer, was serving as Secretary of the Industrial Development Department and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Invest UP at the time of his suspension.
The suspension has caused a stir in the administrative circles, given Abhishek’s significant role in promoting investment in the state.
Previously, he served as the District Magistrate (DM) of Lucknow, when allegations of corruption and the use of fake documents surfaced in the Lucknow Defense Expo Land Scam. The controversy is linked to land acquisition in Bhatgaon. However, an investigation is currently underway.
Additionally, Abhishek’s name appeared in a secret inquiry ordered by CM Yogi regarding alleged extortion linked to solar panel installations. The Chief Minister has reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, warning IAS and PCS officers of strict consequences if found involved in malpractice.
