Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and the Hinduja Group to jointly support the state’s renewable energy goals through workforce development, technology transfer, and investment facilitation.
The agreement, effective from 2025 to 2027, was signed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. The MoU outlines a three-year plan aimed at developing solar-specific training modules, establishing green hydrogen supply chains, and enabling bilateral investment and student exchange initiatives between India and Australia, according to an official statement released Tuesday.
Focus on Skill Development and Tech Commercialisation
One of the key objectives of the collaboration is to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s capacity to meet its target of achieving 22,000 MW of solar energy. For this, the partners aim to roll out skill development programs across the state, with a focus on creating a workforce equipped to handle advanced renewable technologies.
Additionally, the partnership is expected to facilitate the commercialization of solar and green hydrogen technologies. The collaboration will work towards building a robust renewable energy ecosystem through the transfer of knowledge and technological capabilities.
Strategic Push Towards India’s 2030 Renewable Target
The move is part of a broader national strategy to install 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Uttar Pradesh’s initiative aligns with this vision, positioning the state to emerge as a significant contributor to India’s clean energy ambitions.
Cross-Border Investment and Exchange
The agreement also includes provisions for investment facilitation and academic exchange programs. These components are designed to deepen ties between Indian and Australian institutions, while supporting the mobility of students and professionals engaged in the renewable energy space.
