Kolkata: The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) has set up a 125 MW solar photovoltaic farm, also known as solar energy park, in Goaltore in Paschim Medinipur district.
This solar energy park was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today in Goaltore, a village in the Garhbeta II CD block in the Medinipur Sadar subdivision of the Paschim Medinipur district. A total investment of Rs 750 crore has been made for the installation and commissioning of this solar PV power plant.
Out of this total outlay, Rs 150 crore (20 per cent) is being funded by the West Bengal government, while the balance Rs 600 crore (80 per cent) will be funded by the German KFW.
The project was implemented through a turnkey Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract, including five years of operation and maintenance.
The 125 MW solar power plant will have a Capacity Utilisation Factor (CUF) of 18.50 per cent. It will an annual energy export to grid of 202.069 MUs. The levelized tariff of the project has been derived as Rs 3.31/kWh.
