In an exclusive interaction with APAC Media & CXO Media, Siddharth Chaturvedi, Chancellor, Scope Global Skills University & Director, AISECT Group, explains how to bridge the gap between conventional academic education and real-world employability skills. He emphasizes the need for industry collaboration and advanced technology tools to employ blended learning.
As both Chancellor of Scope Global Skills University and Director of AISECT Group, what is your vision for skill-based learning in India? How does SGSU combine education with practical expertise to facilitate skill-based learning?
At Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), our core vision is to bridge the gap between conventional academic education and real-world employability by placing skills at the heart of learning. India is a country with immense talent, but for too long, formal education has been disconnected from the workplace’s evolving needs. Through SGSU, and under the AISECT Group’s larger mission, we are aligning education with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), which stress competency and industry relevance.
Our model focuses on apprenticeship-embedded degree programs, live projects, and industry-integrated curricula. This ensures students do not just leave with a certificate — they leave job-ready, equipped with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise. Our aim is to make every student’s learning experience purpose-driven and linked directly to emerging opportunities across India’s growth sectors.
The curriculum at SGSU is designed in partnership with industry leaders. Could you share how these collaborations are shaped and how they ensure students are industry-ready?
At SGSU, we believe meaningful collaboration between academia and industry is the foundation of future-ready education. That’s why every program we offer is designed in consultation with industry experts, corporate partners, and skill-sector councils to ensure alignment with current market demands. We have established Centers of Excellence in partnership with global leaders such as Microsoft, Google, IBM, Hero, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Infosys, and Wipro, which offer direct exposure to industry tools, best practices, and technological trends. These collaborations ensure our students engage in live industry projects, gain internship opportunities, and interact with mentors from leading organizations.
This model gives students the dual advantage of academic depth and workplace readiness, empowering them to contribute meaningfully from day one of their careers. Our larger goal is not just to produce graduates, but future leaders and innovators equipped with both technical mastery and professional confidence.
In what ways do your cutting-edge laboratories and international-standard facilities help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application?
The laboratories at Scope Global Skills University are designed to ensure that learning does not end at theory. Each lab replicates real-world working environments and is equipped with industry-grade tools and technologies, enabling students to apply classroom concepts in practical, hands-on settings.
From the IoT & Smart Manufacturing lab to the Renewable Energy and Automotive Technology labs developed with partners like Hyundai Motors, the infrastructure is aligned with the latest industry practices. These facilities are deeply integrated into the academic structure through project-based learning, live demonstrations, and skill-assessment modules that encourage experiential engagement. Students are not just learning about industry tools; they are learning with them, under conditions that mirror real job roles.
By transforming theoretical lessons into tangible skills, these facilities effectively close the gap between classroom instruction and workplace expectations, ensuring students are not only job-ready but job-relevant from the outset.
Technology today is transforming the way education is delivered and consumed. How is SGSU leveraging emerging technologies like AI, Virtual Labs, or Digital Platforms to enhance skill-based learning and create a more interactive and future-ready learning environment for students?
At Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), technology is at the forefront of transforming the learning experience. The university integrates advanced tools like artificial intelligence (AI), virtual labs, and cloud-based digital platforms into its skill-based curriculum, ensuring that students are prepared for a technology-driven future. AI is utilized to personalize learning pathways, adapting content to each student’s strengths and areas of improvement, making education more tailored and efficient.
Virtual labs enable students to engage in hands-on learning experiences, even remotely. These labs provide simulations of real-world industry scenarios, allowing students to experiment and problem-solve without being limited by physical resources or geographical constraints. Additionally, SGSU’s digital platforms host a variety of interactive content, from industry case studies to virtual mentorship sessions, ensuring students can access real-time insights and guidance from professionals across the globe.
By blending traditional learning with emerging technology, SGSU is not only enhancing the learning process but also creating an environment where students can develop the skills necessary for the rapidly evolving workplace. This holistic approach ensures that students are not only academically proficient but also ready to thrive in the future workforce, equipped with the digital fluency and hands-on experience that employers demand.
SGSU places a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusivity. How do you ensure that students from varied backgrounds feel represented, included, and supported on campus? Can you share any initiatives or success stories that highlight how inclusivity has enriched the learning environment at SGSU?
At SGSU, diversity and inclusivity are not just values; we actively embed them into every facet of our academic and campus life. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that embraces students from all walks of life, ensuring that everyone feels represented, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Our educational framework is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of our student body. We promote equitable access to education by offering tailored support for students with varying learning needs, including special education programs that ensure no student is left behind. Through partnerships with a variety of educational institutions, our students gain exposure to different teaching styles, cultural perspectives, and learning environments, broadening their understanding of education and preparing them to work in diverse communities.
One of the key elements of our inclusivity efforts is the flexibility built into our academic system. By allowing students to personalize their learning experiences, we foster adaptability and autonomy, important traits for future educators and leaders. This flexibility also allows us to better accommodate students with unique needs or circumstances, further reinforcing our commitment to equitable learning opportunities.
Physical accessibility is another important aspect of our inclusive approach. SGSU ensures that students with disabilities have full access to our facilities, with wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking lots integrated across the campus. These efforts have cultivated a learning environment where students not only receive a quality education but are also shaped into socially conscious, compassionate, and inclusive educators.
One of our proudest success stories includes students who, after experiencing this inclusive approach, have gone on to lead educational initiatives in underserved communities, demonstrating how inclusivity at SGSU extends its impact far beyond our campus. By embedding inclusivity into the very core of our academic mission, SGSU continues to nurture a community that values and celebrates diversity in all its forms.
The AISECT Foundation has long been committed to bridging the urban-rural education divide. How does SGSU specifically cater to students from rural or economically weaker backgrounds in terms of access, affordability, and opportunities?
At Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), ensuring access to quality education and skill development for students from rural and economically weaker backgrounds is a key priority. In line with the AISECT Foundation’s mission to bridge the urban-rural education divide, we’ve partnered with Absolute Gramya Pvt. Ltd. to launch a work-linked BBA program. This initiative provides students, especially from semi-urban and rural areas, with practical industry experience alongside their studies, improving both affordability and employability.
Our programs are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) and the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), with a strong focus on industry relevance. This helps students gain the skills needed in today’s job market, particularly in emerging sectors like IT, healthcare, agriculture, and management.
Through such efforts, SGSU remains committed to creating real opportunities for students from all backgrounds, ensuring they are not just educated but truly job-ready.
With the rapid evolution of industry needs, how do you see the future of skill-based universities like SGSU shaping India’s education ecosystem over the next decade?
I think skill-based universities like SGSU are going to play a central role in reshaping education in India over the next decade. We are moving past the idea that a degree alone is enough. Employers are looking for people who can hit the ground running with real, practical skills. That is where institutions like ours come in. By combining academic learning with hands-on, industry-relevant training, we’re preparing students not just for jobs, but for careers that can evolve with the market.
Another key part is accessibility. We are seeing a real opportunity to bring meaningful education to rural and semi-urban areas, helping students who might not have had these kinds of options before. That is going to have a big impact on both local economies and the broader national workforce. So, in many ways, the future of education in India is going to be much more skills-driven, and we are excited to be part of that change.
