Noida, May 9 (APAC Media): Gold prices edged lower across major Indian cities on Saturday, May 9, 2026, while silver rates rose by Rs 100 per kilogram amid ongoing volatility in global bullion markets.
Market analysts said the slight decline in gold prices was driven by profit-booking following recent gains.
However, they noted that safe-haven demand for the yellow metal continued to remain firm due to persistent geopolitical tensions and inflationary pressures.
According to bullion market data, silver prices increased to nearly Rs 2,75,100 per kilogram across most major Indian cities.
In Delhi, 24-carat gold was priced at Rs 1,52,870 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was quoted at Rs 1,40,090 per 10 grams.

Retail gold prices in Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Pune continued to hover near record-high levels, with minor variations across cities owing to local taxes, transportation costs, and demand conditions.
Market experts said domestic bullion rates continued to track trends in international markets. COMEX gold futures were recently trading near $4,700 per ounce, while silver prices remained volatile amid robust industrial demand and heightened speculative activity.
Analysts added that declining US Treasury yields and lingering uncertainty over global economic growth continued to lend support to precious metals.
Jewellers said consumer demand remained steady despite the marginal decline in prices, supported by the ongoing wedding season across India.
Investors are also closely monitoring signals from the US Federal Reserve, along with movements in global currency markets, for further cues on the direction of gold and silver prices.
