Gandhinagar: NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) has appointed retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Neeraj Kumar Gupta as the Chairman and Public Interest Director (PID) of its governing board. His appointment was approved by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA).
Gupta is a 1982-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He brings extensive experience in finance, governance, and public policy. He previously served as Secretary, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) under the Ministry of Finance until his retirement in 2018.
During his tenure at DIPAM, Gupta played a crucial role in managing key government initiatives in investment and disinvestment and was closely involved in shaping three Union Budgets (2016–2018). He also chaired the National Task Force for Promotion of Digital & Cashless Economy from 2016 to 2018. After his retirement, he held the position of Central Information Commissioner of India until 2023.
Gupta’s collaborative work with SEBI, RBI and both domestic and global investors has significantly contributed to capital market reforms, particularly in advancing ETFs and improving India’s enterprise listing ecosystem.
