New Delhi: NTPC Mining Limited (NML) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and development in critical minerals, mineral processing, and sustainable mining technologies.
The MoU was signed by Naveen Jain, CEO of NML and RED (Mining), NTPC, and Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT. The event was coordinated by Dr. Kali Sanjay, Head of Hydro, Bio & Electrometallurgy and Business Development at CSIR-IMMT, along with Dhananjay Shrikhande, General Manager (Technical Services & Commercial), and Anil Kumar Soni, Additional General Manager (Technical Services & Business Development), NTPC Mining Limited.
Advancing Sustainable Mining
Naveen Jain stated that the collaboration reflects NML’s vision to become a benchmark in safe, sustainable, and efficient mining by leveraging technological excellence and environmental stewardship. He added that combining NML’s operational expertise with CSIR-IMMT’s research strengths will help advance mine planning, mineral beneficiation, and sustainable mine closure practices.
Supporting the National Critical Minerals Mission
Dr. Ramanuj Narayan noted that the partnership is aligned with India’s growing focus under the National Critical Minerals Mission. He said NTPC Mining’s entry into the critical minerals sector enhances CSIR-IMMT’s goal of providing scalable, science-driven, and industry-relevant solutions.
