Kolkata: The West Bengal government is developing its own Audit Management System that will accelerate the auditing process of all Panchayat Committees and village Panchayats across the state.
The state government will thus maintain all transactional details of every panchayat in a central portal.
Bengal AG is in charge of this auditing process for all panchayats. The Panchayat department has developed this portal for them only under the Smart Panchayat Mission.
According to the government administration, this Audit Online portal will make it easier for the Examiner of Local Accounts (ELAs) to collect and conserve all audit-related documents.
Auditors can perform audit-related exercises now onwards from anywhere, anytime, at their own preference. They can refer to any old documents as and when required.
The ability to search, locate and download any document of any panchayat anytime will enhance transparency too.
All audit work can now be monitored in real time from Bengal AG head office, ELA head office or even District headquarters.
Therefore, there will be no need to go to distant panchayats to collect documents. Neither the panchayats need to come to the auditors to submit the documents.
Instead, the panchayats will be informed via SMS when auditing time comes. The portal will inform about what documents are required for the audit.
The Panchayat department has sent SoPs for this entire process to all DMs and asked them to focus on the security aspect, as these involve financial transactions. No official can log in to the portal without OTP.
