New Delhi: Japanese electronic components manufacturer Hirose Electric Co., Ltd. has announced plans to establish its first production facility in India, choosing Tamil Nadu as the location for the new investment.
The company will invest approximately Rs 100 crore in the initial phase of the project, which is expected to generate around 100 employment opportunities. The plant will focus on producing precision connectors and related electronic components, according to an official statement issued by the state government.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising the project was exchanged between the company and the state government in the presence of M. K. Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and T. R. B. Rajaa, the state’s Minister for Industries.
Headquartered in Japan, Hirose Electric currently operates eight manufacturing units worldwide, located across Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia. The India facility will mark the company’s entry into domestic manufacturing in the country.
Precision connectors play an essential role in modern electronics by ensuring the stable transmission of power and data across various components and systems. They are commonly used in devices such as smartphones, consumer electronics, electric vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and a wide range of industrial machinery.
Officials from Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency, said the project is expected to strengthen the local electronics ecosystem and further position Tamil Nadu as a preferred manufacturing destination for global electronics and automotive supply chains.
