New Delhi: The Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras has announced a free, in-person residential training programme for college faculty across India, focusing on STEM subjects and biotechnology.
Prof. Edamana Prasad, Chairman, Teaching Learning Centre, IIT Madras, said: “The program is designed to elevate teaching effectiveness, enrich student learning experiences and cultivate an engaged and inspired academic environment. Its objectives include strengthening student performance, encouraging higher enrollment in STEM disciplines and advancing diversity and inclusion, all of which align with the Union Education Ministry’s commitment to ongoing enhancement and innovation within India’s education sector.”
The initiative, part of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP), is designed for educators teaching undergraduate and postgraduate science courses.
Conducted in collaboration with BodhBridge Education, the nine-day Capacity Building Programme will be held at the TLC Hall and Central Library within the IIT Madras campus. Each batch will accommodate 50 participants, with shortlisted applicants notified via email.
Faculty from both public and private institutions are eligible and assessment and certification will be undertaken as per the MMTTP framework.
The curriculum will cover fundamental and advanced topics in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, along with practical lab sessions, innovative teaching methodologies and exposure to frontier research.
The programme aims to refresh pedagogical skills, promote inquiry-based STEM curricula and encourage diversity and inclusion in science education.
Staying aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the programme will focus on interdisciplinary learning, skill development, research, innovation, global competitiveness and experiential learning.
The training schedule is given below:
- Biotechnology: 22-30 August
- Chemistry: 7-17 October
- Physics Batch 1: 11-19 November
- Physics Batch 2: 20-28 November
- Mathematics: 15- 24 December
