Pherzawl: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a new Ekalavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Lawibual village in Pherzawl district through virtual mode.Â
The project is one of 35 EMRS foundation stones laid across the country to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching and other officials took part in the national event through a live telecast at the Conference Hall of the DC Office in Pherzawl. A similar gathering was held at the school site in Lawibual village.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated several other EMRS across India. The new school in Pherzawl is expected to boost access to quality education for tribal students in the district. The foundation stone ceremony formed part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations. Public screenings of the Prime Minister’s address were organised at Adi Sewa Kendra centres across the district.
