Bengaluru: Zoomcar has introduced Trip Protection, a new cover supported by Universal Sompo General Insurance through a Contractual Liability Policy.
The feature is designed to strengthen safety and trust for both car owners and users on the platform. For hosts, Trip Protection ensures that if a vehicle is damaged during a trip, repairs and related processes are handled through a structured framework managed under Universal Sompo’s policy. Authorized service partners will take care of the required steps, helping car owners stay worry-free while their vehicles remain available for bookings.
Smoother Experience for Users
Guests also benefit from the new offering. The protection mechanism, created through the collaboration between Zoomcar and Universal Sompo, aims to simplify the user experience and reduce unexpected costs or complications during a trip. With this added layer of assurance, guests can enjoy more confidence when using vehicles listed on the platform.
Zoomcar CEO Deepankar Tiwari said, “Trip Protection is another important step toward building a safer and more trusted mobility ecosystem. By collaborating with Universal Sompo, we’re reinforcing our commitment to both our hosts and guests—ensuring every trip is supported by reliability, care, and accountability.”
Strengthening Secure Shared Mobility
Zoomcar says this initiative supports its broader move toward stronger safety standards and responsible car-sharing. The company sees Trip Protection as a key step in helping India shift toward a secure and scalable shared mobility network.
Founded in 2013 and based in Bengaluru, Zoomcar operates India’s largest peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace. Its digital-first platform connects car owners with users seeking self-drive vehicles, promoting shared mobility that is economically empowering and environmentally sustainable.
