New Delhi: The Digital India Corporation’s IndiaAI Mission has partnered with the Uttar Pradesh government to strengthen the state’s artificial intelligence ecosystem through a formal collaboration.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between Digital India Corporation (IndiaAI) and Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Limited (UPDESCO) in Lucknow, marking closer coordination between the Centre and the state on AI-led skilling and innovation.
The MoU was exchanged by Anurag Yadav, Principal Secretary, IT and Electronics Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Abhishek Singh, Chief Executive Officer, IndiaAI Mission and Additional Secretary at MeitY.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav said the initiative would help equip the state’s youth with future-oriented digital skills and support employment generation by leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.
UPDESCO Managing Director Neha Jain said the state’s IT and Electronics Department has been designated as the nodal administrative department for implementing the IndiaAI Mission in Uttar Pradesh, with UPDESCO appointed as the state nodal agency.
Under the initiative, 65 Data and AI Labs are planned across Uttar Pradesh. Two labs at NIELIT centres in Lucknow and Gorakhpur are already operational, while one has been set up by an industry partner in Pilibhit. The state has approved 49 additional labs, with work underway, and 13 more locations will be identified.
The labs will offer AI-ready infrastructure, hands-on training, and industry-aligned learning to build a strong pipeline of AI-ready talent and boost Uttar Pradesh’s position as an emerging hub for AI-driven innovation.
