Mumbai: Lodha Developers has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to invest Rs. 1 trillion in a large-scale data centre park.
Once completed, the facility is expected to be the largest data centre park in the country.
The MoU was signed by Abhishek Lodha, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lodha Developers, and Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister, at the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. The project will be developed under Maharashtra’s Green Integrated Data Centre Park policy and is expected to generate more than 16,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The proposed park will host several leading global and domestic data centre players. Reportedly, Amazon has already acquired land within the park and secured power arrangements for the next 15 years to support its data centre operations. Singapore-based STT Global Data Centres has also purchased a land parcel in the project. Lodha Developers will act as the master developer and will build data centre infrastructure for multiple companies planning to establish facilities at the site.
This investment is in addition to Lodha’s earlier commitment of Rs. 30,000 crore to develop a 2.5 gigawatt data centre park in Maharashtra, further strengthening the state’s position as a key data centre hub in India.
The Maharashtra government has identified integrated data centres as a priority sector for industrial growth since 2019. To support this focus, it introduced the Green Integrated Data Centre Park policy in 2024. Under the policy, data centres, which are large consumers of electricity, are required to use green and alternative energy sources. As part of the initiative, three green data centre parks are planned in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, aimed at supporting sustainable and large-scale digital infrastructure development.
