New Delhi: The centre government on Wednesday has issued a clarification addressing recent news reports and social media posts that claimed revised timelines for LPG refill bookings across different categories of consumers.
According to the official statement, such reports suggesting new refill booking intervals 45 days for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries, 25 days for non-PMUY single cylinder users, and 35 days for non-PMUY double cylinder users are incorrect and misleading.
The Government emphasized that no changes have been made to the existing LPG refill booking policy. The current timelines continue to remain in force, allowing consumers to book refills after 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas, regardless of the type of connection.
Officials expressed concern over the spread of misinformation, noting that such claims could lead to confusion and unnecessary panic among consumers. Citizens have been strongly advised not to believe or circulate unverified information related to LPG supply and booking norms.
The statement further urged consumers to avoid panic booking, which could disrupt the smooth distribution system and create artificial shortages. Authorities reassured the public that there is adequate availability of LPG stocks across the country and that supply chains are functioning normally.
“The situation is fully under control, and there is no cause for concern,” the statement added, reiterating the Government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to clean cooking fuel for all households.
The clarification comes amid heightened vigilance against misinformation on digital platforms, with authorities encouraging people to rely only on official sources for updates related to essential commodities.
Consumers are advised to follow standard booking procedures and remain assured of continued LPG availability without any disruption.
