New Delhi: Amid rising tensions in West Asia, there is some relief for India on the energy front. According to media reports, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has indicated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open for India, easing concerns over potential disruptions in oil supply.
As per reports, the strategically critical maritime route has not been completely shut. While restrictions may apply to certain countries, vessels linked to India are expected to continue transit through the corridor.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most vital oil shipping lanes, handling a significant share of global crude exports. For India, which relies heavily on imports from the Gulf region, continued access to this route is crucial for maintaining energy security.
Experts suggest that keeping the route operational for India could help stabilise supply chains and prevent immediate pressure on fuel availability and prices. However, they also caution that the broader regional situation remains sensitive and requires close monitoring.
The development is being seen as strategically important for India, as it supports uninterrupted trade flows and strengthens the country’s energy resilience amid global uncertainties.
