New Delhi:Â The Central Government has appointed IAS Mahendra Kumar as Director in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for a tenure of five years.
Kumar is a 2011 batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre.
Currently, Kumar is serving as the Managing Director at the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), Patna, a position he has held since June 13, 2024. Previously, he served as the Deputy Secretary at NITI Aayog under the Central Staffing Scheme.
Before joining NITI Aayog, he held several key administrative positions in Uttar Pradesh, including District Magistrate of Balrampur, Chief Development Officer of Kanpur Nagar, and Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Smt. Anupriya Patel.
Kumar holds a B.Tech degree in civil engineering from NIT Hamirpur.
The appointment is significant, as the ministry handles corporate regulation, company law administration, and business governance reforms.
