New Delhi: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) on Wednesday said there has been no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, and urged the public not to believe in rumours or resort to panic buying.
Joint Secretary of the ministry Sujata Sharma said that fuel supply across retail outlets remains stable and adequate stocks are available in the country. “There is normal operation on all the retail outlets. We have sufficient petrol and diesel available at our fuel stations,” she said, adding that citizens should rely only on official information.
The Joint Secretary said that the government is also strengthening access to cleaner energy. She noted that 26 states have been allocated 22,000 tonnes of commercial LPG, and around 2.5 lakh new piped natural gas (PNG) connections have been approved in the last 25 days, reflecting steady expansion of the gas distribution network.
“The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has directed all City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities to provide PNG connections to institutions such as residential schools, colleges, hostels, community kitchens, and Anganwadi kitchens within five days, wherever pipeline infrastructure is available nearby,” she added.
“The government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure uninterrupted availability of petrol, diesel, and gas across the country while continuing efforts to expand cleaner and more efficient energy access. The ministry emphasised that all necessary measures are in place to maintain smooth fuel distribution,” officials said.
The Joint Secretary reiterated that there is no disruption in fuel supply chains and that operations at fuel stations continue as usual. She also appealed to the public to avoid spreading or acting on unverified information that may create unnecessary concern.
