Hyderabad: The Telangana Urban Local Bodies (Municipal) Elections 2026 recently deployed a large-scale live webcasting and surveillance infrastructure to monitor polling activities in real time across thousands of polling stations in the state.
As part of the initiative, Brihaspathi Technologies installed and managed more than 13,000 surveillance cameras across nearly 8,300 polling stations covering 32 districts in Telangana.
The technology framework allowed officials to view live feeds from polling stations through centralised monitoring systems, strengthening oversight and improving coordination during polling hours.
The project required rapid deployment of equipment, reliable connectivity across urban and semi-urban locations, and continuous monitoring to ensure the systems functioned without interruption throughout the polling process.
To address these challenges, centralised monitoring centres were established, linking to election control rooms and district administrative offices. This enabled authorities to observe polling station activity in real time.
The monitoring setup provided election officials with enhanced visibility into on-ground operations and allowed quicker responses to operational issues, if any.
In addition to surveillance at polling stations, the technology deployment also covered strong rooms and counting halls, providing extended monitoring during critical phases of the election cycle.
This comprehensive surveillance framework helped strengthen transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
Trained technical personnel were deployed at polling locations to manage the installation and function of cameras, connectivity, and live streaming systems.
Dedicated support teams and a centralised helpdesk were also established to ensure smooth functioning and immediate troubleshooting support throughout polling hours.
Ensuring stable network connectivity across thousands of locations was a key priority for the project.
Brihaspathi Technologies implemented a secure streaming platform and optimised monitoring infrastructure to deliver stable live feeds and continuous recording from the deployed surveillance cameras.
The initiative enabled election authorities to maintain live visibility across thousands of polling stations simultaneously, improving operational coordination and enabling faster responses to technical or administrative issues.
The system also created a digital record of polling activities that can support verification and review processes when required.
“Our focus was to deliver a reliable and secure monitoring system that enables election authorities to conduct polling with greater transparency and efficiency,” commented Rajasekhar Papolu, Chairman & Managing Director, Brihaspathi Technologies.
