New Delhi, Apr 19 (APAC Media): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has appointed senior IAS Kaushal Raj Sharma as Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, signaling a key administrative move in the National Capital Territory.Â
Sharma will work under the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor, Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
A 2006-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Sharma’s appointment comes after his tenure as CEO of the Delhi Jal Board. He assumed that role in May 2025 on a three-year inter-cadre deputation to the AGMUT cadre, gaining experience in managing critical urban infrastructure in the capital.
Sharma is widely recognized for his administrative track record in Varanasi, where he served as both District Magistrate and Divisional Commissioner for over five years. During this period, he led the execution of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor project, overseeing complex land acquisition involving more than 300 families.
He also drove major urban renewal efforts, including road widening and ghat beautification, contributing to the city’s transformation. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic at the district level further strengthened his reputation as an effective and responsive administrator.
