Noida, June 19 (APAC Media): The Prime Minister will release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on June 20, 2026, from Tarakeswar in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, according to an official statement issued on Friday.
Under the instalment, more than ₹18,880 crore will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore eligible farmers across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Over 2.18 crore women farmers are among the beneficiaries.
“The amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers without any intermediary,” the statement said, adding that the cumulative disbursement under the scheme will exceed ₹4.46 lakh crore since its launch in February 2019.
The event will be organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal. It will be attended by several dignitaries, including the governor and chief minister of West Bengal, union ministers, and Members of Parliament.

“The programme will be observed as PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas across states, districts and Gram Panchayats to raise awareness about central and state welfare schemes,” the statement said.
More than one crore farmers are expected to participate virtually in the programme through Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR institutes, agricultural universities, farmer producer organisations, mandis, PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras, and cooperative societies.
Alongside the PM-KISAN instalment, the Prime Minister will launch and inaugurate several agriculture-focused initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS).
“These schemes aim to provide financial protection to farmers against crop loss due to natural calamities, pests and adverse weather conditions,” the statement said, adding that the initiatives will strengthen income security in the agriculture sector.
The Prime Minister will also launch the Digital Agriculture Mission, under which the AgriStack platform will be expanded in West Bengal.
“The mission will enable delivery of services such as fertiliser distribution, crop insurance, Kisan Credit Cards and DBT through a unified digital system,” it said.
In addition, the National Mission on Natural Farming will be expanded to promote chemical-free farming practices, while the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will be implemented in selected districts, including Purulia, Darjeeling, Alipurduar and Jhargram, to improve productivity, irrigation, credit access and post-harvest infrastructure.
