Vijayawada, June 19 (APAC Media): Andhra Pradesh took another significant step towards industrial growth as the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved investment proposals from 50 companies involving a total investment of Rs 30,515 crore.
The approved projects are expected to generate around 29,677 employment opportunities across the state.
During the 18th SIPB meeting held in Vijayawada, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the benefits of industrial development reach the poor and middle-class sections of society.
He stressed the need to create an industrial ecosystem that supports not only large industries but also entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Naidu also called for stronger support for startups through the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) and directed officials to facilitate venture capital funding for emerging enterprises.
Emphasising the importance of future-ready skills, he instructed the Education Department to align academic curricula with emerging industry requirements and advanced technologies, including robotics, and other next-generation sectors.
Focus on Ethanol, Green Energy and Semiconductors
Highlighting the potential of ethanol production, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh should emerge as a leader in the sector, noting that increased ethanol blending would benefit farmers while reducing dependence on imported fuels. He directed officials to engage with oil companies and encourage investments in biofuel industries.
He identified solar, wind, pumped storage and battery energy storage systems as key pillars of the future energy landscape and called for faster development of projects supporting Andhra Pradesh’s 160 GW green energy vision.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of building a robust semiconductor ecosystem and promoting data centres backed by adequate power infrastructure. He called for special focus on lithium-ion battery manufacturing and fast-charging technologies for electric vehicles.
Push for Innovation and Quantum Technologies
Referring to the growing AI and quantum technology ecosystem in Amaravati, Naidu advocated for automated approval systems that reduce political interference and simplify land allotment and project clearances.
He also envisioned the development of a comprehensive Amaravati Quantum Valley ecosystem, including technology parks, research facilities, quantum applications and quantum computing infrastructure.
Defence and Aerospace Opportunities
The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the proposed Fifth Generation Fighter Jet Manufacturing and Testing Facility at Puttaparthi and maintain close coordination with the Central government.
He said the Bengaluru-Puttaparthi region has the potential to emerge as a major Defence and Aerospace Corridor and proposed the development of an airstrip between Tadipatri and Anantapur.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the promotion of temple tourism and suggested exploring opportunities for yoga centres in Tirupati, Amaravati and Visakhapatnam.
Major tourism infrastructure projects should be developed at Gandikota, Polavaram, Anantapur, Kurnool, Horsley Hills and Suryalanka Beach, he said.
He further directed officials to prepare a master plan to transform Suryalanka into a premier beach tourism destination.
