New Delhi, June 19 (APAC Media): Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Friday inaugurated a dedicated women’s police station in North District’s Subzi Mandi area, marking a significant step towards strengthening women’s safety and gender-sensitive policing in the national capital.
The newly launched police station is staffed entirely by women personnel. It is aimed at providing a secure and supportive environment for women to report complaints and seek justice without fear.
The station will primarily focus on addressing crimes against women, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, stalking, and related offences.
Focus on Gender-Sensitive Policing
Addressing the gathering, L-G Sandhu emphasised the importance of women’s safety in building a progressive society. He said a safe and empowered woman forms the foundation of inclusive growth and development.
The initiative is expected to improve accessibility to law enforcement for women and encourage more victims to come forward and report crimes.
Review of Women Safety Initiatives
Following the inauguration, the Lieutenant Governor also reviewed key women safety initiatives undertaken by Delhi Police, including Pink Booths and the ‘Sashakti’ drive.
He directed Delhi Police to establish more such women-focused police stations across the capital to strengthen responsive and women-friendly policing.
In a message on X, Sandhu said, “Inaugurated a dedicated Women Police Station today alongside senior officers of Delhi Police. Guided by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji that Nari Shakti is the cornerstone of nation-building, this vital institution will provide women with a supportive and secure environment to report grievances, seek justice, and access assistance without fear. Also reviewed key women-safety initiatives of Delhi Police, including Pink Booths and the ‘Sashakti’ drive.”
