Mumbai, October 3 (APAC Media): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has launched the ‘Invest Maharashtra’ platform to position the state as a leading investment destination in India and globally. The initiative will provide integrated government support covering land, power, infrastructure, approvals, and skilled manpower for investors.
‘Made for Business’ Approach
Unveiling the platform, Fadnavis said its identity would be “Made for Business”, reflecting a government approach focused on saving investors’ time and resolving hurdles efficiently.
The platform will coordinate with various government departments and remain engaged with investors from the initial project stage through expansion. According to the government, Invest Maharashtra will serve as the state’s premier industrial investment promotion and facilitation institution, bringing investment promotion, global partnerships, research, analysis, and investor relationship management onto a single platform.
Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said the platform would provide investors with guidance and facilitate their interaction with different government departments.
Rs. 8.57 Lakh Crore Investment Commitments
The launch coincided with the Maharashtra Investment Summit, where 67 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) involving proposed investments worth Rs. 8,57,452 crore were signed. These projects are expected to generate around 2,91,109 jobs, according to an official release.
The data centre, information technology, and semiconductor sectors accounted for the largest share, with proposed investments of Rs. 4,15,490 crore.
Other commitments included Rs. 12,651 crore in electronics, Rs. 6,500 crore in healthcare, Rs. 18,751 crore in infrastructure, logistics, and construction materials, and Rs. 7,000 crore in steel production.
The aerospace and defence, and energy and clean tech sectors each accounted for 10 MoUs. Chemicals, agriculture, services, and global capability centres together attracted proposed investments of Rs. 8,801 crore, while other sectors accounted for Rs. 1,82,810 crore.
Local Businesses and Skills in Focus
Fadnavis also called on large industries to ensure that investments create opportunities for local small and medium enterprises, suppliers, youth, and farmers. He urged companies to include local businesses in their supply chains and work with educational institutions to train young people in industry-relevant skills.
The Chief Minister said Maharashtra was targeting a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030, with initiatives such as Education City, Medicity, and AI and Innovation City aimed at bringing together industry, skills, research, healthcare, and technology.
Mumbai-3 and Mumbai-4 Development
Fadnavis said the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had completed the Existing Land Use (ELU) process covering around 2,100 sq km for the planned development of Mumbai-3 and Mumbai-4.
He described the exercise as the fastest ELU process of its kind completed in India and said it would provide a foundation for planned development of the two cities.
The Chief Minister also urged industries to support water conservation, particularly in areas affected by low rainfall, and called for greater use of research and engineering expertise in efficient irrigation and wastewater reuse.
